Freifunk Pinneberg Firmware
To operate your router in the Freifunk network, you need our firmware, which you can download here. The current stable version has the version number 0.11.2
The "installation" or "factory" version is for the initial installation after purchasing the router. sysupgrade for the update if an older or different Freifunk firmware or opwnWRT is already installed. In rare cases, there is no difference between factory and sysupgrade. In this case, only sysupgrade images are available, and then also intended for the initial installation.

Stable, Beta, Experimental?
Stable is the oldest, but also the best tested firmware. Here you can be pretty sure that everything will work, and there are only rare updates. Ideal for all those who don't want to deal with it much, or use the routers as guest WiFi in companies, for example. The stable always has a version number without additions.
Beta is newer and less well tested than stable. Nevertheless, bugs are rather rare here. This is a version that could soon become the new stable. It is a compromise between experimental and stable. You can recognize a beta version by the word "beta" followed by a counter after the version number. The beta can also be recommended if you are using new hardware for which there is no stable version yet, in which case you can also set the autoupdater to stable, then your router will switch to the stable version as soon as it is available.
The Experimental is always the latest version, but has been tested little or not at all. The risk of major errors is greatest here. Most of the time, however, the errors are minor. If you like experimenting and are familiar with SSH and TFTP, you can help us by testing the firmware. In the worst case scenario, the router could break (fortunately we have never had this happen so far). In most cases, however, it runs surprisingly stable.
As with the beta, this version can be useful for very new hardware if there is neither a stable nor a beta for the router.
The experimental version can be recognized by the version suffix exp followed by the date of creation in the format YYYYMMDD.
